Yorkville Baptist Cemetery Rules

The Yorkville Baptist Cemetery and the Yorkville Baptist Cemetery Association, Inc. do not sell burial spaces. The cemetery is owned by the Yorkville Baptist Church and operated and maintained by the Yorkville Baptist Cemetery Association, Inc. The Association depends on grave opening fees, contributions from descendants, grants, and other fund raising. The following rules for use of the Cemetery establish your responsibilities, those of this Association, and the mortuary of your choice.

  1. Contact the Association Board and state your desire to use the Yorkville Baptist Cemetery.

    1. Establish with that board member your eligibility to use the Cemetery. One of the following conditions must be met for a person to be buried at the Yorkville Cemetery.

      1. Deceased has a previously marked and approved lot shown on the graph for the cemetery. All approved grave lots are to be marked with surrounding walls or be cleared of all gravel and debris, covered in compliance with the renovation, beautification and maintenance plans of the Association and marked with permanent markers installed at each corner of the lot. Corner markers must have the family’s initials or other lettering to identify the lot and must be installed flush to the ground. No markers can be installed without the approval of the Yorkville Baptist Cemetery Association.
      2. Deceased has an immediate family member (Spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, grandmother or grandfather) buried in the cemetery and space is available.

    2. After your eligibility is established, assist the board member in determining and marking the appropriate gravesite for burial.

  2. Make funeral arrangements with the mortuary of your choice. Remind your funeral director that he must obtain a signed burial permit from a Board member before burial arrangements can be completed. The mortuary will collect required cemetery contributions and disburse to the Cemetery Association.
  3. As of October 1, 2017 a minimum contribution of $500 payable to the Yorkville Baptist Cemetery Association must be included in the contract with the mortuary and collected by them as part of the grave opening fee. Cremated remains added to an existing burial site will require a $250 contribution. If placed in a new/separate site, the $500 contribution will apply. Cremation remains must be placed in a cremation vault. (If the Deceased has made contributions to the Yorkville Baptist Cemetery Association in an amount equal to or greater than the required fee - no additional fee will be charged. If the family has purchased a traditional or crematory monument for the deceased from the Yorkville Baptist Cemetery Association prior to death no fee will be charged. If the family purchases a traditional or crematory monument from the Yorkville Baptist Cemetery Association after death the amount of the fee will be credited to the cost of the monument.)
  4. New graves, including cremation sites, will be permanently marked within 12 months of burial and comply with the renovation, beautification and maintenance plans of the Yorkville Cemetery Association.
